The federal government proposed the introduction of a luxury tax as part of the 2021 Federal Budget. Draft legislation for the Select Luxury Items Tax ("Luxury Tax") was released on March 11, 2022 and the Luxury Tax, once enacted, will generally come into effect on September 1, 2022.
